Brain Traffic Blog: Be your own content expert

Amy - this is so true. Each time we hold content workshops we start by asking people what are their personal website horrors and heros (it always creates a lot of energy). Then, when we get down to the nitty gritty and start critiquing and scenario building for their own site, there's that rewarding sound of falling scales from eyes: you are so right to give permission to holding up the mirror.

To write about something is not an easy task. It's a kind of skill which can't be get, you have to achieve. You written to be a content expert very nicely. Keep posting.

Great Stuff Amy. I also find that by using your own anecdotes in your writing it adds a personal spin to your articles that gives your writing a human voice.

Yes, but there's a risk in getting too comfortable with our own skewed perspectives. After sitting in on usability sessions, it's clear that users don't always approach websites the way "we" do.

Sure, maintain a firm commitment to web publishing fundamentals, but also leap nimbly in and out of your users' skins, given what you know about them.
